NEWS FLASH! - FAT TYRE FESTIVAL SCOOPS FIRST TIME CIRCUMNAVIGATION OF MT REMARKABLE WITH SPECIAL PERMISSION FROM NATIONAL PARKS AND SEVERAL LANDOWNERS.

We did it - "Roll the Mount" - The Circumnavigation. How Scottish was that, even without the kilts!

MTB MADNESS IN MELROSE

Well, The Sensational 6th has passed us by. That was a lot of fun.. The weather just held up and a fantastic crew of around 90 riders explored the countryside around Melrose taking in the flavour of the local trails, local wines, local madmen.. Twas a mix of John Hardwick from MTB Australia Mag skipping his 29er singlespeeder effortlessly over large logs,.. and Chris Southwood from Australian Mountain Bike Magazine thrashing his glowing green Carboniferous Cannondale at ridiculous velocity down sketchy (and slippery) singletrack. There also seemed to be a lot of very nice, tenacious blonde Dutch girls making it look easy. and the sheepdogs got flogged!! Oh well, next year we will give Mack a go maybe. Thanks everyone for sharing in some great moments in riding and singing around the campfire. You were a great bunch of people that the town of Melrose would be happy to have back anytime so don't wait until Lucky 7th FTF. Come again on a quieter weekend. But definitely come for the Lucky 7th because it will be a biggie. Troy, the originator of the FTF concept, is coming with a big crowd of Internationals from the Over The Edge scene, so it promises to be pretty spesh. And we will be sure to set up some very cool rides to celebrate the occasion. Check out the MTB mags for more reviews and pics and we will slowly be adding some to these pages too.. THE FASTEST FATHER DAY

FATHER'S DAY SUN 7th SEPTEMBER

Bring your old Dad along or get him to bring himself along, and why not join the fellow for a ramble. A great day for Dads and Moms and bairns alike. Watch out for morels. This race follows the path of the Bleating Goat. It is black and narrow and can get a little hairy but there are suitable alternatives for other folk to ride in and have a crack and get some great vantage points of the race. More details to come in this space. All proceeds go to the Rough Riders' Track Maintenance fund for the Bleating Goat track.

THE ADELAIDE MOUNTAIN BIKE CLUB'S BARTAGUNYAH CROSS COUNTRY RACE

SUN 5th OCTOBER

The Adelaide Mountain Bike Club also run a Cross Country Race at Bartagunyah on the Sunday of the Melrose Show long weekend (see video for a preview of the Bartagunyah tracks). Lots of categories for advanced and casual riders so come along for a great ride and why not head to the show on Sat while you are there - there is also a Local Food and Wine Festival on the Sunday afternoon. Just another great long weekend in Melrose - still haven't got the red wine stains out of my jersey from last year.. NOTE: OTE will also be running other rides on the Saturday and Monday for Folk that want to check out these cool trails - watch out for the "bleating goat".. and watch this space for more details.
