28th Mar

If you are staying in Melrose over the school holidays and want to go for a ride –  pop into OTE and ask about our shop rides. They will be suited for all ages and abilities. Pick up a map and have a chat to Jos our new bike manager, about the trails in Melrose or Barts.  He can also help you get back on your bike if you have a mechanical issue. For the kids we have a “scavenger hunt on ya bike”  leaves from OTE – (Gold coin donation – money goes towards maintaining our bike trails)

Our rental bikes have landed and ready to get dirty!  These are also up for sale so if you hire it and like it – buy it!

Plenty of beautiful merino wool and our latest indulgence are the new “Otto and Spike” scarves and beanies to keep you warm – don’t forget to grab an OTE tshirt as a souvenir!!

Friday night fun at the Pump track – join the locals and meet down at the pump track after 6pm.  (weather permitting)

Also ask Pip if any women rides are going out  -  I am sure she will be up for a ride on her new Cube Peleton.

Melrose will have live music at the pubs on the weekends also serving great coffee/wine and food, we have a fantastic rail trail great for families, and if winter comes early come into OTE – we will have our fire going, coffee brewing, few board games and the latest mountain bike DVD to keep you entertained.

Drumming monkeys are booked for Fat Tyre – family fun event!

1st Mar

The Amazing Drumming Monkeys is an adorable little variety show aimed at 2 – 8 yr olds, and is also great entertainment for all ages. The 2 monkey puppets (Bongo & Congo) play African drums, lead audiences in songs & dances, and perform magic tricks and (low tech) special effects gags. The show also features beautiful positive messages, such as caring for our environment, and getting along with each other.

The Monkeys appeal to a great range of people, places, and events.  The show has cute & funny monkeys for the kids, great drumming for the adults, variety segments for all ages, and a message for the world.

The monkey show is the brainchild of South Australian based percussionists, Xavier Beaubois and Troy Moore. The original idea for the monkeys came when Xavier’s daughter, Kira, laughed hysterically when Xavier used her toy monkey’s hands to play the drum. Xavier and Troy quit the bands they were in and set about developing the concept for the Amazing Drumming Monkeys and, as they say, the rest is history! Together they hope that the show will not only entertain but also positively influence current and future generations towards sustainability and peaceful coexistence.

The monkeys have been described as:

The Next Wiggles” (NT News),

The Next Bananas!” (Nicole Foote JJJ),

“**** ½ stars. Beating HI-5 Hands Down” (Adelaide Advertiser).

“Big favourites in our KidZone, Congo and Bongo are banging good fun!” (WOMADelaide Festival)

Famous all over Australia, this show is not to be missed.
